BARELY-THERE MAKE UP

This sophisticated and elegant nude look may seem effortless to achieve but it's not so easy. To enhance your features you need to get it right, otherwise you may look a bit washed out. Here are a few tips on how to do it. Start with your skin as it plays a major part in the success of a nude look. Choose foundation which exactly matches your skin tone and apply it delicately - remember it's all about looking natural and healthy. Even if there are some blemishes it's better to cover them with a concealer only in the area it's needed. By doing this you'll avoid heavy coverage. Then concentrate on creating a nice glow with the help of bronzers and self tans. Choose bronzers that have more than one tone to them and hint of subtle shimmer. Don't apply it all over the face - that will look flat and unrealistic. Instead apply it to the areas on your face which first get the colour  when you tan: your cheeks sweeping out to the ears, bridge of the nose, ball of the chin and hairline at the top of the forehead. That will guarantee a natural look. For a fresher look you can also add a bit of subtle pink blusher on your cheeks.

Eyes - brown shades provide the most naturalistic effect on the skin. For a more contemporary look choose green bronzes, yellow golds and salmon copper hues. Sweep the lighter shades over the moveable eyelid and darker in the crease. Then use a brown eyeliner but for a more natural look soften it with a cotton bud. At the end apply a lot of mascara. For a more dramatic effect you can curl your eyelashes before applying a mascara.

Lips - apply a natural toned lipstick first (soft pink, light brown, beige and terracotta) and then add a bit of gloss. For multi-toned but subtly coloured lips try a different coloured gloss: gold on beige, apricot on pink, pink on terracotta and so on.

The beautiful barely-there look is much easier to achieve with mineral make-up that gives subtle, yet long-lasting and natural looking coverage.

TANNING - QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Do I need to moisturise first?

Moisturiser can act as a barrier, therefore you should not moisturise immediately before tanning. However it is impartant to exfoliate the whole body prior to tanning to remove dead skin cells. This will allow a smoother flawless tan application.

Can I wax beforehand?

Yes, you can but bear in mind that any waxing or shaving should be carried out at least 24h before applying the tan.

Will it get darker?

Tans develop over 6 - 8 hours. Showering, bathing, swimming and vigorous exercise must be avoided for 8 hours after application.

When can I wash?

It is best to leave overnight for a fully developed flawless tan. Some surface bronzer will wash off during the first shower. Pat dry, do not rub!
